PHP Developer - Symfony

As the PHP Developer you'll join a team that consists of 7 Developers of various disciplines and experience. The developers use MacBook Pros, but there’s certainly space for Linux lovers. They're are adopting and adapting agile development techniques such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. They take responsibility for their code throughout the life cycle, deploying to production multiple times a day.

As the PHP Developer you'll work on a variety of technologies including: PHP, Node.js, Python, Scala, AWS, Puppet, and early attempts in microservice architecture with Golang, so there’s plenty of opportunity to learn/work with new technologies.

PHP Developer skills & requirements:

  • Proficient level of PHP and MySQL
  • Modern PHP frameworks experience (ideally Symfony 2 or 3)
  • Unit and functional testing (PHPUnit)
  • Experience in Agile environment

PHP Developer responsibilities:

  • Take technical leadership on variety of projects, eCommerce platform, backoffice/internal systems, API services, there's something for everyone
  • Deliver projects according to agreed timelines
  • Ensure code is of high quality, secure and performant based on guidelines and principles agreed with Director of Technology
  • Submit unit and functional tests with your code changes
  • Active participation in agile ceremonies and peer code review process

PHP Developer requirements: 

  • We expect you to be a generalising specialist, ready at the drop of a hat to refine an algorithm, write a tricky integration test, squash some legacy code, tune a SQL query, or discuss feature nuances with a product manager.
  • Oh, and if you like board games, an occasional Counter Strike ‘LAN party’, or table-tennis tournaments - you will fit right in.
