Lead PHP Developer

£65,000 - £70,000 per annum



My client is looking for an excellent Lead PHP Developer to join Their team in London.

Working in this role, you will deliver wide range of high profile projects and features in collaboration with Product team, and develop and maintain code base of high quality, security, and performance.

You will be a hands-on Technical lead, managing and leading a small team that consists of

3-5 developers of various disciplines and experience. The developers use MacBook Pros, but there’s certainly space for Linux lovers. They are adopting and adapting agile development techniques such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. They take responsibility for their code throughout the life cycle, deploying to production multiple times a day.

The technology stack includes PHP, Node.js, Python, Scala, AWS, Puppet, and early attempts in microservice architecture, so there’s plenty of opportunity if you’re up for the challenge.

Main Responsibilities – Lead PHP Developer
Take technical leadership on variety of projects, ecommerce platform, backoffice/internal systems, API services, there's something for everyone

  • Deliver projects according to agreed timelines
  • Ensure code is of high quality, secure and performant based on guidelines and principles agreed with Director of Technology
  • Submit unit and functional tests with your code changes
  • active participation in agile ceremonies and peer code review process

Skills & Requirements – Lead PHP Developer

  • Minimum 5-6 years of professional development experience
  • Experience developing for cloud environments, and dealing with problems of scale
  • Experience of leading/mentoring Developers.
  • Proficient level of PHP5/7 and MySQL
  • Very good understanding of OOP design and principles
  • Modern PHP frameworks experience (ideally Symfony 3)
  • Unit and functional testing (PHPUnit)
  • Experience in Agile environment
  • Experience in Linux usage (Ubuntu)
  • Experience looking after development team

Beneficial - Lead PHP Developer

  • Docker
  • Modern Javascript/ES6, ReactJS,
  • NoSQL solutions (ElasticSearch, Cassandra etc)
  • Experience in Node.js, python, golang
  • DevOps, AWS services, Puppet, Jenkins, continuous delivery
