Senior PHP Developer

The Role – PHP Developer

Experienced PHP Developer to join a development team based in London. The team develops desktop and mobile websites using PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript.

You will join a small team of developers as part of a larger Technology team. You will be working with other developers, product owners and learning technologists to extend and enhance a Moodle-based platform.

You will be working across the stack, coding in PHP and Javascript, whilst ensuring that your tests pass every time.

What you’ll do: - PHP Developer

  • Focus on reliability, scalability and the development of cloud computing infrastructure
  • Managing large server farms which are located on multiple global sites.
  • Measure the capability of our infrastructure and applications to manage failures from failovers to full site outages
  • Automate the deployment and release process making sure continuous integration and continuous deployment is practiced
  • Dealing with design issues, performance analysis, troubleshooting, capacity planning, networking and assessing application behaviour
  • Help build the platform (based on Moodle)
  • Deliver high quality code, working in an environment that embraces DevOps methods
  • Collaborate with other developers, product owners and learning technologists
  • Pitch in where needed as a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team

Who you are: - PHP Developer

  • You can work with Cloud providers such as AWS / Azure
  • LinuxOps and Linux engineering knowledge
  • Experience in CI/CD/DevOps tools like Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Terraform, Docker
  • You know how to create high quality, scalable and secure PHP/JavaScript/HTML/CSS applications
  • You are experienced with modern coding, testing, debugging and automation techniques
  • You care about front and back end web technologies, from the UI to the database
  • Familiarity with some or all of: PHP5, PHP7, Behat/Gherkin, PHPUnit; HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 3, Git/Bitbucket/JIRA, Symfony, Linux, Nginx, Apache
  • Familiarity with CI/CD/DevOps tools like Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Terraform
